ABOUT ME
After speaking to fellow Nutritional Therapists, it is clear that many of us found ourselves on this path as a result of our own healing journeys. As children, my siblings and I all suffered from atopic diseases (asthma, eczema and allergies). Doctors prescribed us an array of medications to keep symptoms at bay. However, my mum intuitively felt uneasy with the idea of her young children chronically using steroid inhalers, strong creams and antihistamines. Although complementary medicine was much less accessible at the time, she explored TCM, Ayurveda and Nutritional Therapy to see if it was possible to manage these conditions in a more natural way. Dietary changes, targeted supplementation and herbal medicines all played a role in drastically improving our health, and our childhoods.
I think this instilled in me at a very early age that there is a strong connection between what we put in/on our bodies and how we feel. Despite this knowledge, I have struggled with other health challenges in my life, such as hormonal imbalance, PMS and acne as a woman in my 20’s. Although I have resorted to Western medicine at times, I have always found my way back to food and lifestyle to help me heal, and each time I have been amazed by the power they have to radically transform our health. This is why I decided to retrain as a Nutritional Therapist and what ignited my passion to help my clients heal themselves naturally.
My Approach
Food First
So much transformation can be achieved through alterations to your diet and lifestyle. Therefore, this is always my first line of treatment. Small, achievable tweaks over a period of weeks and months accumulate to create a real impact. This approach is also more manageable and less overwhelming. Functional testing and therapeutic supplements can be hugely beneficial, however, these are always recommended on a case-by-case basis and discussed with the individual.
Holistic
I take a 360° approach to healthcare. This process will involve exploring various layers of your health, delving into your medical history, food and lifestyle choices, and even mental & emotional wellbeing. I am here to guide you gently through these facets, providing you with comprehensive support at every step. I understand that each unique individual is different, and I am committed to developing a plan that meets your specific needs.
Non-Restrictive
I grew up in a multicultural family where food was more than just fuel, it was also a love language. Gathering around the table to share stories over food was an important part of life. I believe eating should be joyful and that’s why I advocate for a non-restrictive approach. I like to focus on the abundance we can add into the diet, rather than what we take away. Sometimes certain foods need to be removed as part of a therapeutic protocol, however, I always aim to reintroduce as many of these as possible.
Collaborative
Through my own health journey and being a client of Nutritional Therapy myself, I have gained invaluable insights into the journey you will embark on as my client. I can empathise with your struggles and the challenges you may have faced along the way. We are not entering into a doctor-patient relationship, but rather a collaborative partnership. I am committed to working hand in hand with you to achieve your health goals.
